TheJobRevolution.co.uk was born out of frustration with the current recruitment market, both in Gloucestershire and further afield.
Two significant incidents led the company's founder to try and develop a better solution...
The recruitment catch-22
When Mike left a career in recruitment for one in marketing he was soon asked to help out his new company with a recruitment drive.
He contacted a number of his former contacts at leading job boards to negotiate advertising rates and was shocked to find that 'direct employers' were being charged rates multiple times that of the recruitment agency he had just left.
Mike soon found himself in a catch-22 situation familiar to many direct employers:
- pay the job boards extortionate rates with no guarantee of success or
- pay the recruitment agencies bombarding him with CVs the virtually unaffordable fees they were demanding for suitable candidates.
The honest director
A year later, when looking for a new role, the director of a small business informed Mike - during a second interview - that the decision on whether to hire him or not would be influenced by the fee he could negotiate with the recruitment agency who had put him forward for the role.
Mike didn't get the job... He couldn't help thinking that it would have been a different story had he applied direct.
The current recruitment situation felt broken - employers needed the 'right' candidates and the candidates needed the 'right' employers but the middle men were often creating a barrier. Clearly, a revolution was needed...
The search for a solution
This lose-lose situation led to a search for possible solutions to help local businesses recruit affordably. A few months later TheJobRevolution.co.uk was born.
We're focused on creating a job seeking and recruiting democracy, by offering employers access to a range of cost effective online recruitment solutions.
